4 girls.
3 concerts.
7 amazing[for the most part] artists.
and countless hours spent on our feet...
equals the best weekend ever!!!
so yesss... it was back to my home away from home, good old Montréal this past Friday and Saturday for a couple of shows and some failed prom dress shopping [but i did get some new items ill show off later]
Delorean @ Club Soda April 2nd
so im a big Delorean fan, and they deifnetly did not dissapoint, their set was very good, it was great to her more tracks form them i really enjoy them just such happy music :)
[this bro really brought the energy, dance moves, and definetly the sweat... dripped onto his keyboards every time he moved around]
[haha this bro was truely a champ, had this sling the whole time even picked up a guitar at some points]
[this bro had long hair. but what a sweet voice :)]
Miike Snow @ Club Soda April 2nd
so they all come out wearing these masks [and one guy in an amish looking hat] and theres this eerie blue lighting haha, it was amazing, this guy in paticular was just FULL of energy! some of the BEST first pumping i've ever seen!
the front man definetly brings the personality though, even sporting a pair of John Lennon styled specs after he removed that half mask haha, his dance moves were HILARIOUS. i almost died eevry time, and his voice was spot on, even played some guitar and piano for us it was great great great
[brrraaap, action shot! just thought this was trippy...]
[the only video i could find from that show on youtube, their hit "Black & Blue", not the best audio but you get a good feel for it]
Boys Noize and Housemeister @ Métropolis April 3rd
now was this ever a party! un surprising to see we werent the only ones who rushed straight from the Miike Snow show and around the corner over to this crazy party. lastest til 3am our feet were TOTALED by the end haha! the music was amazing, enjoyed their live set better than a lot of what i hear on the albums, of course "Jeffer" and "Kontact Me" were huge hits with the crowd, but man everyone was going wild the whole time.
[this blinding strobe light made it a little hard to stay right up against the stage for long.]
[someone actually stole my buds new hat off her head and threw it into the crowd so we were on and off looking for this thing [because a hat is important.] and i actually spotted it in some girls hand at the VERY end of the show haha, so it all worked out well.]
Nosaj Thing @ Métropolis April 3rd
[couldn't get a picture of this guy since he kept his lighting dark and the same the whole time, but what a cutie, he had some hilarious moves haha]
there was a bit of confusion over whether Nosaj Thing or jj was the opening act when i saw he was added to the line up, but after looking up some of his songs before hand i had fallen in love with his 'chillwave meets Ratatat' sound. i was even more impressed by him live even though he only played for a too short 30 minutes. he was great, the music was beautiful.
jj @ Métropolis April 3rd
honestly i would have not been dissapointed if Nosaj Thing had replaced this girl all together. form the start i was never to big on jj and all her hype, i'm found of a couple of songs, like "my way" but even that was a little lame live since the Weezy had to be cut out. still she has a beautiful voice and though i may have liked her sound a bit more live [less of that fading in and out crap she does] the performance was lacking.
after ditching the guitar she stood awkwardly with a drink in her had rubbing her mane of hair into the mic and fidgeting with her scarf while some weirdo video played on a projector behind her... the whole thing was very strange and the only person who looked even more bored than the audience during the performance was herself... shes a very cute girl though, i had actually spotted her on the floor before the shows began and almost pointed her out to my friends for her eclectic style haha, and theres no doubt she has a a beautiful voice, i've heard her headliner shows are better since shes more pumped that people are there for her
The xx @ Métropolis April 3rd
so after the let down jj set a white sheet drops from the roof and we are left speculating until finally the club goes dark and a giant X is projected on the sheet, of course the crowd goes crazy as we start hearing the soothing sounds of a personal fave of mine, "Intro".
[had a picture of the projected silouettes, but i thought this surprinsingly good quality vid captured it better]
the show was great of course, their lighting was amazing! i really enjoyed them haha. vocals were spot on and or course everything sounded perfect, really impressive. i was one of those people who didnt quite warm up to The xx right away, but soon growed to love them, and after seeing them live it only makes this love stronger. it was really spectacular i'd love to see them again sometime, just great music
[finally got one of my own of this iconic shot :D]
after their spectacular encore, they played us out with "You've Got the Love (the xx remix)" by Florence & the Machine and left us confused to wehether they were coming back, but of course they didnt :(
so all in all an amazing 2 nights, it was great, bands were great, montreal was great, friends are great, life is great, cant wait to do more of these [hopefully have Grum and THE TWELVES!!! lined up for May 1st if we can get that going, I will be there even if Im dead.]
you went to see delorean, miike snow and the xx? sooo lucky! they must have been great!
