i definetly feel like i'm not posting enough about music as of lately, i've just been listening to a bunch of jumbled mp3s of all different artists or else reliving the good old days listening so some old favourites...

when did you get into the 'indie' scene? i feel like its been forever...

the first 2 bands that really made an impact on me were Daft Punk and Gorillaz, back when the original iPod commercials had come out haha, back when my main source of music was commercials and a late like program on much called The Wedge

did you ever listen to/still love:

Oh No! Oh My!
Sleater-Kinney
The Golden Dogs
Wolf Parade
You Say Party! We Say Die!

Camera Obscura
Tokyo Police Club

2006 - "I Have No Sister" by Oh No! Oh My! [download here]
-i can't even describe the feelings i get from this bands music, it makes me feel sad but happy at the same time its a strane feeling, but the music is truly beautiful with soem deifnetly interesting lyrics haha

things Ive sewed

So the other component of my portfolio for Ryerson was of course sewing...  so my buddy needed me as a model for some headshot where she painted me like a bird [I will post these some time haha] but then yes I said can we also take some pictures for my portfolio and she said sure so these are the items i made...

So this is a copy of my fave UO blue sweater jacket, I made a pattern for it by just copying the pieces but man that thing is a bitch to figure out it was like a puzzle haha, but in the end Im pretty happy with it, my only issue is that the sleeves are a little long and they have to stretch haha

This is just a simple dress I made from a pattern at a sewing camp I went to, this fabric was a must have for me so the lining in the top ended up ebing in a purple fabric because there wasnt enough haha

So these skirts are pretty simple to make, its a copy of a UO skirt my friend has haha, it was very very simple to figure out and cut a pattern for since is was purly rectangles, at first I had made the orange one but dayum that color! hardly goes with anything, Im going to bleach is some day, but yes then I decided to make one out of the blue and it only took me about a day

Since you only needed 3 garmets the orange one didnt make it in, blue showed the details better...

So yeah, theres some clothes I made... Im trying to figure out soem high wasited shorts but I pretty much have to make this pattern myself... so its pretty challengin [how do you make a fly?] haha...

Oh and as for the things I didnt sew..
[green & pink tees and grey tights from UO, grey shirt from Old Navy, black cigarette pants from Urban Behaviour, necklaces from Aldo, shoes form Sears]

sorry about that...

Sorry for the lack of posting over the past couple of days, I had a nice long weekend haha, watching some Olympics, lots of skating and even a dinner party, but tiem to get back to this blog...

///////////////////////////

So for my Ryerson portfolio i was asked to ahve 4 illustrations
-daywear design for women
-historically inspired evening wear for women
-skateboard pant and top for men
-your favourite pair of shoes [couldn't be on a foot]

so here they are:

For this one I wwent searching for the perfect picture of shoes on a wire... and never found one. so i made a little contraption in my room and took about 20 pictures from every angle haha, heres the photo and the gridded sketch:

More portfolio crap later, also got all the things i had to sew...

shopping in your own closet

so this week i decided to raid my closet for things i dont wear anymore/haven't worn in a while/have never worn because someone at school on monday asked me "dint you wear that last week...?"
i've been lacking in variety lately.
so yeah.

tuesday's

sorry sometimes i take these pics right before i leave for school, its early in the morning, can you tell?

[dress from Winners which i just realised ive had forever, black tights from mom, socks from sock guy at flea market, 1940's had from great aunt, necklaces from Aldo, shoes from Sears]

wednesday's

so this is a dress i like to wear backwards, because it really doesnt work the other way and i dont see how it could... but i think it was like 9-10 bucks so whatever eh, so yeah i like to put a top under it and then i have that little button up faux-corset do-hicky going on... plus that little cardigan type thing... people were asking me how many shirts i was wearing today [my record is still 5 though]

[dress from Winners, tee & cardigan from UO]

thursday's [yeah i plan in advance.]

bought this dress suuuch a long time ago, i wore it once before dubbing it "makes me look fat"... its really thick.

excuse this greasy greasy hair, washing it as soon as this is posted up.

Oh and you know id it gets too hot you can tie up the sleeves around your waist.......
yeah. what. i dig it.

[sweater dress & belt from Sirens, tights & socks from mom, tee from UO]

i like the time i spent with you girl

Ahhh!! I have so much to post my friends too much too much... So heres whats going on with me...

-Ive been considering dropping the great course of bio... [apparently you cant pass without doing the homework, BS, I never do homework], I mean I was already going to drop it before for photography, but then I couldnt take cooking haha, I dont see why Im so hesitant of dropping it now...

-Also cant remeber if I had previously mentioned it, but i for my Ryerson portfolio all sent in [a while ago], and Ill be posting my sewn garmets and illustrations as soon as I get around to it...

-And the Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway is now open, the LARGEST outdoor skateway [f u whoever made the 'longest', probably some one person at a time shit...], but being the great canadian I am I went and enjoyed a beautifully delicious beaver tail as well as some mable syrup on a stick. amazing.

so heres me and my buds at the end [we always gotta skate the whole thing], and look at that even got part of the Parliment Buildings in the top left how nice. And if you could tell im the one who's friggin short in the grey trench [from Urban Behaviour, served me well for 3 brutal winters]

Ive also been trying to rehabilitate my poor fish, Admiral Finn, who i suspect has fin rot, or what i described to my friends as "his fins are disintigrating!"... so Ive 'suped up' and 'pimped out' his bowl:

Pretty nice I would say... He seems happier... I think...

So yeah, OCAD [Ontario College of Art & Design] interview in Toronto Thursday the 25th and one for York on March 2nd... fun. Maybe while Im in TO Ill stop by UP and try to find a dress for the semi formal....

i've been in love with "Day Glo" by Brazos [download here], along with everyone i know whos heard it, for quite soem time now, and after my friend pestering me to find more tunes by them i came across their LP on their site entitled "Phosphorescent Blues" [listen to the whole thing here]. this album is really worth the listen and probably the buy.
