Don't Be Scared

This was that big painting I had to do for art class, I think I might have been the only one who didnt draw it out on the canvass beforehand and just went straight at it and attacked it with paint, and oh do I ever love acrylics hot damn. Its so nice and thick and fun and no worries, just paint over everything! Used to have a HUGE red balloon on there but it was messing up my composition... says the teacher, I agreed but everyone was like wth! but yeah, just paint right over the damn thing.
So I hope you enjoy its about 16"by20", click on the images to enlarge them :)

Sweet Stuff

I am a big fan of random crap and I'm one of those people who picks things up off the ground and brings it home... Or else Im always being given strage art or things from my parents childhood from my mother, but whereever this crap is fun its all awesome stuff for sure.

Some baby shoes given to me by my mom, pretty damn old.

Some plant I picked up off the road walking home from my friends.

1930's measuring tape given to me by my great aunt.

I put it above my window :)

My mom was cleaning out old Christmas decorations from my grandma, snagged this little guy, my friends broke the nose off and thougth i wouldnt notice :(

Yeah.. Ive had this my whole life haha, so cool.

I have no idea why I have this, but its pretty heroic.

Found this on the sidewalk...

Haha, on the ground with the rest fo the discarded items outside of Value Village

Found this one shoe outside my school after the snow had all melted away, I LOVE IT. Its spray painted gold wtf, and the insde is awesome, people always ask whats the deal with it and Im like dud eyou were there when I picked it up...

Haha my latest addition, found these on the ground at Girl Talk at Osheaga, I was afraid theyd get crushed so I picked them up with my foot and held them up for someone to claim them, so luck though, finers keepers :D

Some of my Proudest Moments

Dont front.

My Favourite Socks

I know when people get dressed socks is usually the least of their concern, but for me no way. I LOVE socks, I was one of those people who were taken in by that trend of layering socks over tights and just havign my socks pulled up high and wearing them proudly. Most of my awesome socks were just brought into my room by my mom, mostly vintage I would say, Ive always been a sock girl but here are my fave pairs...

My moms precious Peter Max socks [guy who did Yellow Subamarine video] Theyre pretty damn amazing and pretty damn old, Im thinking late 60s? theyre pretty worn, Im kind of afraid of wearing them, not to mention how hard it is to make an outfit around these bad boys

My white socks, theyre almost like mesh, pretty damn awesome over tights because you can lightly see the other colour under them.

These were my all time faves, as always, given to me by my mother and VERY old, unfortunatly I definetly over wore them, one is lost and the one i have left has a bit whole in the toe :P

These are amazing, great colour and great detail, mom gave em to me, could be old... I wear them a lot

My favourite black socks, I usually always wear plain black socks when my feet arent on display, these one have great detail, great for lolita type outfits :)

These socks are my hero, my mom randomly bought them in New York, took me a while to warm up to them but now Ive embraced their AWESOMENESS!! Im starting to wear them out already though D: But I get many compliments on them they're the best.

And about me always being a sock girl... Welcome to my life when I was 12-13, when every day was these thigh highed bad boys with mini skirts and boldly coloured tees [lots of Hello Kitty]

Yeah I was a weird kid.

Music from Osheaga

Heres some recommendations from some of the great performers from Osheaga 2009

Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma
Lykke Li - I'm Good, I'm Gone
Crystal Castles - Courtship Dating [my mom ended up buying their CD for me :D]
Arctic Monkeys - Dancing Shoes
The Ting Tings - Great DJ
La Roux - In For The Kill
Girl Talk - Bounce That

Woodhands - I Wasn't Made For Fighting

God I love Woodhands... I saw them at Blues Fest as well as Osheaga and I danced my heart out each time, they're awesome :)

OSHEAGA!!!

So I just spent the weekend at the Osheaga music festival with 3 of my friends, it was a great time :D
First day we saw we stayed at one stage and saw...
-NLF3
-La Roux
-K'naan
-The Stills
-Lykke Li
-Girl Talk
-Woodhands

Second day we skipped some shows to do some Montreal shopping [H&M, Simons and Urban Outfitters, 3 VERY great stores we DO NOT have in Ottawa] but we saw...
-The Ting Tings
-Vampire Weekend
-Cursive
-Arctic Monkeys
-Crystal Castles

Heres some pics taken by my friend:

La Roux, I hadn't really known about them before hand but they were GREAT! Amazing hair.

K'naan, didn't really know him either, good show as well though.

Lykke Li, definetly my favourite performer of the whole thing, she was fantastic in every way, we were about 2nd row for this one.

My friend was on stage for Girl Talk, she got his sweater :P

Us in the crowd haha, second time being front row at Girl Talk.

The Ting Tings! Opened with We Walk haha, yess! I was surprised at how many songs I knew, pretty short set.

Vampire Weekend was amazing! Though they were without violins theyw ere still so cheery, god I love them. The drummer was making epic faces the whole time.

After some food and chilling at Cursive we go to Arctic Monkeys, and before they start we get a major down pour, it was ridiculous. So many umbrellas haha, but right when they started the rain stopped for the rest of the night :D

So now we head over to another stage for Crystal Castles, and after all that rain its complete mud. There were people bathed in it.

Rolled up my precious newspaper pants as not to get mud on them...

CRYSTAL CASTLES! Alice Glass is like a friggin marionette, she never blinked I swear. Now, they started when they set was supposed to END because of transportation difficulties and missing gear and what not. They were still insane though, Alice Glass is really amazing to watch I was like hypnotized haha, wish it could ahve been a full show :(

Overall it was an amazing time! The crowds were a lot more itno compared to Blues Fest and the music was more my taste, so many amazing times :)
