magsss

just picked up some issues of my 2 favourite magazines from britain
NME for my rock & mixmag for my electro
it has been too long. why are british magazines 10 times better + come with free CDs?

so anyways, heres me passing on interesting facts i learned from NME about some 2010 albums:

-MGMT's Congratulations is not going to have any tracks like Time To Pretend, ELectric Feel, or Kids. Theyre not afraid of making mistakes this time around and they really don't believe its going people are going to like it as much as Oracular Spectacular. In fact, they dont want any singles from this one. I don't know what I'm expecting at all.

-Sam Eastgate of Late Of The Pier reveals that theres still not going to be a new album from them for a while, but he is working on a side project with someone else whos in another band, hmm... theyre both drummers is the only clue. Super pissed though, I spend every day when im going to hear from Late of the Pier or Cut Copy, LOVE THEM.

-Crystal Castles. I was just realising a while back how their debut album was actually from 2008, so about time. They're keeping quite mysterious about it, but I have heard a track called "Baptism"[only live recordings], maybe itll be on it its very good.

-The Strokes FINALLY plan on releasing a new album late this year. Jesus.

-Friendly Fires. Do I even need to say anything? Im so pumped.

-Klaxons, oh my god yes... 2010 is going to be a good year haha, the last time my mom brought home an NME from Ireland Klaxons was on the cover, so like... 2007? Been too long my brothers.

-M.I.A. is describing her new album as "more musical", Diplo describes it as "Gucci Mane meets Animal Collective", sounds very promising.

-Foals apparently went crazy while recording in Sweden. Looks like its gonna be different this time around more "expansive" and longer songs. The band wants to grow up apparently.

-LCD Soundsystem says this is going to be their best work yet, but should probably be their last tour so i should think about catching them thise time around then...

-New Young Pony Club. Holy shit when was the last time I heard form these guys :|

-Metronomy "the plan is to make a sexual record, the kind of record you put on to woo a lady". HA, I can't wait.

-Hot Chip comming out February First, just got my hands on that title track "One Life Stand" earlier today actually, love their melodies :)

-We can also expect some Lightspeen Champion, Jack White, Arcade Fire, Mystery Jets, The Ting Tings, Gorillaz, Yeasayer, and The Wombats.

-Okay and apparently the guy from Pnau was the other guy in Empire Of The Sun [those crazy Australian bands owuld all be related eh...], and he left Empire of the Sun to go back to Pnau because they are getting the chance to work with Elton John of all people haha, but Luke Steele of Empire of the Sun says the bands not over yet, so expect another album this year as well.

[omg Pnau = heroes?]

This year looks promising.

  1. Baptism by CC has been around a few years! so i don't think it's going to be on the new album. and NME is the worsttt magazine ever, the bands they talk about are good 75% of the time (when they're not bumming the Enemy etc) but they're arseholes! not that i can recommend you any better indie music mags, they're all flawed IMO. free CDs are good though :) x

  2. i remember a video of them performing it and i was thinking it sounded more new than old, don't know why though haha. i've only read 2 issues of NME actually, and the last one was from '07, but i enjoy it, i don't think we have anything like it here, but i do remember seeing an issue with Paramore on the cover, kind of dissapointing... haha

  3. i like drownedinsound.com a lot, don't know if you've heard of them/it. they cover lots of british music, mainly indie, and it's bit less mainstream than NME but still covers the mainstream bits too, i've made some good discoveries on there :) you should check it out! x
